This list of traffic collisions records serious road crashes: those that have a large death toll, occurred in unusual circumstances, or have some other historical significance, which are notable and have their own Wikipedia article.
August 28 – Nigeria – Abuja bus crash riots, Abuja, Nigeria. Seventy people are killed in a bus pile up in Abuja. The next day, related protest riots kill four more people.
November 5 – Nigeria – Ibadan road tanker explosion, Ibadan, Nigeria. Between 100 and 200 people are killed when a petrol tanker loses control, slams into a traffic jam and explodes.
February 28 – United Kingdom – Great Heck rail crash, Selby, England. Car driven off the M62 motorway near a bridge onto railway tracks, causing the derailment of a passenger train and its subsequent collision with a freight train.
May 26 – United States – I-40 bridge disaster, Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. 14 people died and 11 others were injured on Interstate 40, when a barge collided with a bridge support, causing a 580-foot section of the bridge to plunge into the Arkansas River.
23 November – Malaysia – Merapoh bus tragedy, near the Pahang-Kelantan border. 14 passengers were killed in a bus tragedy at kilometer 63 of Lipis and Merapoh roads (Federal Route 8) near Merapoh, Pahang.
April 19 – Spain – Benalmádena coach crash, Benalmádena, Spain. 38 injured and 9 killed after an SUV collided with a bus full of tourists while trying to overtake it.
December 14 – Egypt – 2008 Egyptian bus accident, Dahrut, Egypt. A bus plunged into an irrigation ditch while traveling from Cairo to Minya killing at least fifty-five and injuring ten.
December 16 – Israel – 2008 Israeli tour bus crash, southern Israel. 25 killed and 30 injured after a bus crashes off the road and rolls down a ravine between Ovda and Eilat in Israel. It is the deadliest traffic accident in Israel's history.
July 26 – United States – 2009 Taconic State Parkway crash, Mount Pleasant, New York. Eight were killed, including the driver, and three were injured when a driver travels the wrong way for 2.7 kilometres (1.7 mi) on the Taconic State Parkway in New York State before crashing head-on into a sport utility vehicle.
July 2 – Democratic Republic of Congo – Catastrophe of Sange, Sange, South Kivu. A fuel tanker overturned and exploded, creating a fireball that devastated the town of Sange in South Kivu province. The preliminary death toll placed the number of dead at 220, with 111 injured, though the numbers later increased.
December 20 – Malaysia – 2010 Cameron Highlands bus crash, Blue Valley in the Cameron Highlands. Twenty-seven people, mostly Thai tourists, were killed when the double-decker bus they were traveling in crashed at the Second East–West Highway of the Perak–Pahang state border. Until 2013, the worst traffic accident in Malaysian history.
March 13 – Switzerland – Sierre coach crash, Sierre, Switzerland. A coach carrying school teachers and pupils crashed into a wall in the Sierre Tunnel. Of the 52 people on board, 28 were killed in the crash.
October 12 – Peru – 2013 Peru bus disaster, Santa Teresa District. A makeshift bus carrying 51 Quechua Indians plunged off a cliff and ended up in the Cachimayo River, killing everyone on board. The deadliest accident in Peruvian history.
April 13 – Mexico – Acayucan bus crash, Juan Rodriguez Clara. A bus traveling from Villahermosa to Mexico City collided with a broken-down tractor-trailer attached to a truck and then caught fire. 36 were killed and another 4 injured.
June 17 – Portugal – Algarve bus crash, Algarve. A bus traveling on the A22 highway near Algarve, Portugal drove off the road and fell into a gully. The accident killed four Dutch tourists and injured thirty other passengers.
March 20 – Spain – Erasmus bus crash, Valencia. A Tata Hispano passenger bus carrying Erasmus students from several countries home from the Fallas Festival in Valencia collided with a car on the Autovía A-7 motorway, near the town of Freginals. Thirteen foreigners female students were killed.
January 21 – Italy – 2017 Verona bus crash, Verona. A bus carrying school children from Hungary crashed and caught fire on the A4 near Verona a few minutes after midnight. 17 people were killed and 25 others were injured.
February 20 – Philippines – 2017 Tanay bus accident, Tanay, Rizal. A tourist bus carrying more than 50 passengers crashed on a curved road after the vehicle apparently lost control and hit an electric post in Barangay Sampaloc in Tanay, Rizal. 15 people were killed and 40 were injured.
December 14 – France – Perpignan crash, Perpignan. A train crashed into a school bus on a level crossing between Millas and Saint-Féliu-d'Amont in the Arrondissement of Perpignan. Six pupils were killed and 24 others were injured.
April 22 – North Korea – 2018 North Korea bus accident: A bus in North Hwanghae Province, North Korea transporting Chinese tourists fell off a bridge, killing 32 Chinese tourists and 4 North Koreans.
October 28 - China - 2018 Chongqing bus crash: A bus with 15 passengers plunged off Wanzhou Yangtze River Bridge into the Yangtze River. No one survived. A passenger attacked the driver, causing the accident. 
December 16 - Switzerland - One traveler was killed in a bus accident and 44 people were injured, including 10 Russian tourists, when a bus skid on a snow-covered road and slid against the wall.
December 27 - Iceland - Three British tourists died in a traffic accident, including one child when a Jeep, carrying seven tourists, drove down the bridge from Skeiðarársandur and fell high to the riverbed. Other four people were severely injured.
December 30 - Finland - In the northern part of Finland, a three-member family from Russia died when their car slid into the opposite direction and collided with a truck.
January 11 - Canada - 2019 Westboro station bus crash: A double-decker bus crashed on approach to Westboro Station by swerving and striking the bus shelter at the station. Part of the upper deck of the bus was torn off on impact, killing three people on board, as well as injuring 23 others.
January 12 - Sweden - A minivan collided head on with a truck near Kiruna Municipality, killing 6 out of 7 people from Switzerland.
February 3 - Russia - At least seven people died in a bus accident in Kaluga oblast near Moscow, including 4 children. The bus was carrying dancers of a children's dance club who were on their way to a dance competition in Kaluga.
February 24 - Neenah, Wisconsin, US: A 131 vehicle pileup occurred during whiteout conditions on I-41 southbound. One fatality and 71 injuries were reported. The whiteout was due to recent snowfalls and wind gusts in excess of 60 miles per hour. The section of interstate south of US Highway 10 is open farmland with no wind breaks causing drifting and zero visibility conditions. As of February 2019 this accident ranked as the 7th biggest pileup (by number of vehicles) in US history.
